Grocery Adda

Grocery Adda is down in the basement at K1/78 on the main road in Chittaranjan Park. Being in a basement means it stays a little cooler than the street outside, which is nice during the Delhi summers. We are right there on the main road, so it’s easy to drop in if you are heading home or out for a walk. CR Park is a very specific kind of neighborhood, and we try to stock the things our neighbors like to buy for their kitchens. We have the usual staples like rice, flour, and oils, plus all the small things like spices and snacks. Sometimes it feels a bit tucked away, but we have a sign out front so people can find the stairs. The space is filled with the smell of different grains and sometimes a bit of incense we light in the morning. We spend a lot of time moving crates around and checking the stock on the racks. It can be a bit of a struggle to get the heavy sacks down the stairs, but we have a system for it now. We aren't a big supermarket, just a local spot where you can get your groceries without much fuss. Most of our day is spent talking to the regulars who have lived in the area for decades. We just keep things simple and try to make sure we don't run out of the basics that people need every day. It is a steady way to spend the day.
