Gautam Polymers has been sitting here at F 33 and 35 in Okhla Industrial Estate Phase I for quite a few years now. If you’ve ever walked through Phase I, you know it’s a busy, noisy place with trucks always moving around. Our factory floors are usually covered in some kind of plastic shavings or dust, which is just the way it goes when you’re working with polymers all day. We aren’t some big corporation with polished floors and glass walls. We’ve got machines that have been with us since the start, and they still do the job just fine. Most days, it’s just the sound of the injectors and the smell of melting plastic. We make a lot of different parts, mostly for other local businesses that need specific shapes or components. It gets pretty hot in here during the summer months, but we’re used to it by now. There’s a small desk near the front where we handle the paperwork, but most of us are usually out on the floor making sure the molds are set right. We don’t really do big advertisements or anything like that. People find us because they need something made and they heard we’ve been here forever. We just focus on keeping the machines running and getting the boxes packed. It’s not a glamorous job, but it’s what we do. We eat our lunch together in the small room by the entrance.
