Empress Of China

We’re located in American Plaza over at Nehru Place. If you know the area, you know how crowded it gets with all the office people. We’ve been here serving food for quite some time now. Empress Of China is just the name on the door, but to us, it’s just where we work every day. The kitchen is always busy during lunch. You can hear the pans clanking from the back. We don’t have a massive space, but we fit everyone in. The tables are close together. Sometimes the AC acts up when it’s really hot outside, but we try to keep it cool. It’s a lot of walking back and forth. Nehru Place is full of computer shops and people in a hurry. Most of our regulars just want their food fast so they can get back to their desks. We know their usual orders. It’s not a fancy five-star place. It’s just a spot for a meal. We clean the windows every morning, but the dust from the plaza always finds its way back. The menu hasn’t changed much in years. People seem to like it that way. We just keep the kitchen going and make sure the floors are swept. That's the daily life here at American Plaza. We have a small storage closet that's always overflowing with napkins and take-away boxes. The staff takes turns eating lunch in the corner when the rush dies down. It’s just how we get through the day.
