Cottage Industries Exposition Ltd.

Our workshop and storage at Rz-42/6 in Kalka is where things get done for Cottage Industries Exposition Ltd. It's up here in Haryana, which gives us a different feel than the city offices. The air is a bit different and the pace is a little slower, which suits us just fine. We have a lot of room here to spread out the larger carpets and check them for any flaws. It’s a practical building, nothing fancy at all. We have concrete floors and sturdy metal shelves. Most of our time is spent packing things up for shipping or checking the quality of the new pieces coming in from the weavers. We don't have a fancy reception area. If you come by, you’ll probably find us in the back with a roll of tape and some bubble wrap. It’s a lot of physical work, moving the heavy rugs and boxes, but we’re used to it. We keep a ledger by the door to track everything. Sometimes the power goes out and we have to work by the light from the door, but we don't mind. We focus on the quality of the crafts, making sure every stitch and carve is right. It’s just a group of us working hard to make sure these traditional items get to where they need to go. No frills, just honest work every day. We don't see any need for anything more complicated than that.
