Big Mart

Over at S-16 on the Mai Road, you will find Big Mart. This is right in the heart of the Green Park Main Market in Delhi. It is a loud place, being right on the road and in such a popular market area. There is always noise from the street vendors and the cars. We occupy that S-16 spot and try to keep things moving. The shop is deep, so it stays a bit cooler in the back than at the front entrance. We spend a lot of time checking the stock and making sure nothing is running low. Since we are in the main market, we see all kinds of people, not just the locals. Tourists sometimes wander in looking lost, and we try to point them the right way. The shelves are high and the aisles are narrow. You have to be careful not to knock things over if you have a big bag. We do not have any corporate office or anything like that. We just sit here behind the counter. It is a lot of standing and moving boxes. The evening rush is the hardest part of the day when everyone decides to shop at the same time. But once the shutters go down, it is nice and quiet on the road for a little while. That is when we finally get to clean up and head home.
