Bhagat Ram Om Prakash Departmental Store

Bhagat Ram Om Prakash Departmental Store has been part of Lajpat Nagar 1 for quite a while now. We are at units 32 and 33 in Krishna Market. Delhi is always moving fast, and this market is no different. You’ve got people shouting, rickshaws honking, and the smell of street food everywhere. Inside the store, it’s a bit more organized, but still crowded with bags of pulses, rows of spices, and stacks of household cleaners. The name is long, I know, but it’s just how the family decided to call it years ago. We have a lot of regular customers who have been coming to us since they were children. The wooden counters are worn smooth from people leaning on them while they wait for their groceries to be packed. We use a lot of brown paper bags, and there’s always the sound of tape being pulled and cut. My back usually aches by the end of the day from lifting the 10kg flour sacks, but that’s just part of the job. We don’t have much space for sitting, so we’re mostly on our feet. The ceiling fans spin fast but they don't do much against the Delhi heat in June. It’s just a local shop where we try to have what people need so they don’t have to go far.
