If you come down to the Industrial Estate in Rai, you will find us at Plot No-1913. It is a busy area with a lot of noise from all the factories. We mostly deal with auto parts and metal bits. The floor is usually covered in some kind of grease or metal shavings, no matter how much we sweep. It’s a private limited company on paper, but really it is just a group of us trying to meet deadlines. The summer heat in the shed can get pretty bad, so we keep the fans going at full blast. Sometimes a machine breaks down and everyone has to stop what they are doing to help the mechanic. We have been in this spot for a while now. The neighborhood has changed, more shops opening up outside the gate. We get our lunch from the small stall down the road. It’s not a glamorous life, but we take care of the equipment and make sure the parts are right before they go into the crates. Orders come in, we make them, and then the trucks take them away. That is the cycle every single day. My hands are usually stained with oil by noon. We don’t have a big front office or anything like that, just a small desk where the paperwork gets done. It’s practical work for practical people.
