Suresh Ambure Farmers Producer Company Limited is based out of Bardi in Pandharpur. We mostly gather at Suresh Bhanudas Ambure’s place to figure out our plans. We are just a group of local farmers who decided that doing things alone was getting too difficult. Farming here isn't easy because the rains are so unpredictable lately. Sometimes we have plenty of water and other times the ground is just dry as a bone. Most of us have been working these fields for decades, just like our fathers did. We deal with everything from seeds to fertilizers and trying to find a buyer who will give us a fair price. Our office is simple, just some chairs and a desk where we keep the registers. It’s nothing like those big corporate places in the city. We spend most of our time outside anyway, checking the crops or fixing a pump. When harvest season comes, it gets real busy for everyone. We try to help each other out with equipment or share advice on how to deal with pests that are ruining the crops. It’s a lot of physical labor and the paperwork part is still pretty new to us. We are learning as we go. If you need us, we are right there in the village near the post office. We are just trying to keep our farms running and make sure we can take care of our families through the year. It’s a long road ahead, but we’re sticking together.
