Akshay Traders

Right across from Sawarkar Maidan at 1903 Goldfinch Peth is where you’ll find Akshay Traders. It’s a busy spot, especially when there’s something happening at the grounds, but we’ve managed to carve out our space here. We handle a lot of different trading items depending on what the local market needs at the time. The building itself is older, but it serves its purpose for storage and meeting with people who come by. We don’t spend much time on decorations or making things look pretty. Most of our day is spent checking inventory, talking to suppliers, and making sure deliveries go out on time. Sometimes the traffic outside makes it hard to get trucks in, but we make do. It’s a family-run kind of feel here, even if we aren't all related. We’ve seen the neighborhood change quite a bit over the years. Some businesses have gone and new ones have come in, but we’ve stayed put in Goldfinch Peth. It’s a practical location for what we do. People drop in to ask about prices or to see what’s arrived in the latest shipment. We keep a ledger on the desk and a pot of tea nearby. It’s not a high-tech operation, just a lot of manual work and keeping track of numbers. We focus on getting the goods from point A to point B without too much fuss. That’s how we’ve always done it. It is just the way we operate.
