V S L Agro Traders is located right here in Malkawthe. It’s a small operation, mostly dealing with the crops that come in from the farms around South Solapur. We spend our days looking at bags of grain and talking to the local farmers who bring their stuff in. It gets pretty dusty in the warehouse, but that’s the nature of trading seeds and produce. We didn't start this to become some massive corporation. It was more about having a reliable place in the village where trade could happen without too much fuss. People know where to find us. We’ve been at this for a bit now, and we’ve learned a lot about what grows well in this soil and what the buyers are looking for. Sometimes the market is good, sometimes it isn't, and we just deal with it as it comes. It's mostly just a couple of us handling the paperwork and moving the stock around. We don't use any high-tech systems or anything, just basic record-keeping and a lot of phone calls. If you walk past our place in Malkawthe, you’ll likely see a truck being loaded or unloaded. It’s simple, honest work that keeps us connected to the land and the people living on it. We aren't trying to change the world, just trying to run a decent business that serves the local area well enough. It keeps us busy and that is fine by us.
