Sumangalnarayan Farmer Producer Company Limited is based at House Number 990 in the village of Kadlas. This is in the Sangola Taluka of Solapur district. If you’ve ever been to Solapur, you know how hot it can get during the summer months. We usually start our work very early in the morning so we can finish before the heat becomes too much to handle. The office is a simple room with a tile floor and a few chairs. We have a big map of the local area on the wall so we can keep track of where everyone is located. We spend a lot of our time talking about water management and crop cycles because that’s what matters most around here. We aren't a big corporation with lots of money. We are just a group of people from Kadlas trying to work together. Sometimes we meet under a tree if the office feels too stuffy. We drink a lot of water and tea to stay going. There’s always someone stopping by with a question about their harvest or just to see how things are going. We don’t have a website or anything like that. We just use our phones and a few notebooks to keep things running. It’s a very basic way of doing business, but it’s what we know. We just take things one day at a time and try to stay prepared for whatever the weather brings to the village.
