Solapur Farmer Producer Company Limited

Our group, Solapur Farmer Producer Company Limited, is located at Gat Number 27/2/1 in Malkawathe. That is over in South Solapur. We are basically a collective of local farmers who saw that we could do better if we worked together. Farming in the Solapur district can be pretty tough, especially with the water and the market prices jumping around all the time. By forming this producer company, we’ve given ourselves a way to manage our crops and sales a lot more effectively. We don't have a fancy office or anything like that. Our base is right there in Malkawathe where we can be close to the fields. We spend most of our time dealing with the actual work of farming, so the company is just a tool to help us with the business side. It’s run by people who actually know what it’s like to work the land. We talk about what to plant, when to harvest, and how to get the best prices without getting cheated. It’s a very grounded, local operation. We aren't looking to become some huge company; we just want to make sure the farmers in our area can keep their land and provide for their families.
