If you go to Bale in Solapur, you will find us at Hrutwij Tayappa Maske's place at house number 29. Shivmalhar Shetkari Producer Company Limited is basically just a group of us from the neighborhood. Solapur can get really hot, and the water is always something we are thinking about. Farming in this part of Maharashtra is a constant battle with the heat. We decided to start this company because we needed a way to help each other out with equipment and selling our produce. It is hard to get a good price when you are just one small farmer with a few bags of grain. We keep our office stuff at the house in Bale. It is nothing special, just a desk and some chairs where we sit and argue about the best time to sell. We have all grown up around here and we know the land well, even if it is stubborn sometimes. It’s not like those big companies you see on TV. We are just local guys with calloused hands trying to make sure our families are taken care of. Some days are better than others, and sometimes the crops don't do what they are supposed to. We just take it as it comes.
