Sauli Woman Farmer Producer Company Limited is based at House 230/1 in Jeur. It’s run through Nanda Vitthal Pandhare’s home. This is a small group of women from the Jeur area who decided to stop working alone. Farming is already difficult, but doing it by yourself is even worse. We meet up at Nanda’s place to talk about what we’re planting and how we can sell it together. It’s not a fancy setup. You’ll find us sitting on the floor or on some benches, going through the accounts. We have crops to tend to, so the company stuff happens in the gaps between the field work. The soil around here is okay, but you have to know what you’re doing or you'll lose your shirt. We help each other out with advice or even just some extra hands when the harvest is ready. Being in Jeur 413202, we are a bit far from the big markets, so working as a company helps us with the transport. We don't have any big corporate goals. We just want to make enough to keep our homes going and maybe save a little for later. It’s a simple arrangement for us. Just a bunch of women farmers trying to make life a bit more predictable in a job that’s anything but. Anyway, that is what we are doing here at the house.
