Out here in Gat No. 242/2 at Kumbhej Phatakumbhej, things move at a different pace. We are in the Karmala taluka of Solapur district, which is a big area for farming. Our company, Sarubai Agro Farmer Producer, is basically a group of people from around here working together. The location is right by the phata, so we see a lot of people passing through on their way to the main roads. The ground is dry and the sun is usually strong, but that is just life in Solapur. We spend our days dealing with the crops and the local farmers who bring their stuff to us. There is no corporate vibe here at all. It is mostly people in dusty clothes talking about rain and prices. The building is a simple structure on the plot of land. We have some space for storage and a small area where we do the administrative bits. Mostly, we are outside or in the warehouse area. We started this because the local farmers needed a central point to organize. It is not about fancy logos or big advertisements. It is about the soil and the hard work that happens in the fields surrounding Kumbhej. We keep our records in simple ledgers and spend more time on the phone or talking face-to-face than on computers. It is a busy life, especially during the harvest season when everyone is working double time.
