Saraswati Shishu Mandir/Higher Secondary School Barhi is on the Main Road in Karmala. We are part of the Giridhardas Devi Pratisthan, and we've been in this Solapur location for a good while now. Being on the Main Road means we are easy to find, but it also means there’s always a bit of dust and noise from the passing trucks. We have the 413203 area code. We take care of kids from the very little ones in Shishu Mandir up to the teenagers in the Higher Secondary section. It’s a big range of ages to have in one place, but we manage it. The school isn't some polished private academy. It’s a local school with plain rooms and basic furniture. We spend a lot of time on the daily lessons and making sure the students are where they need to be. Karmala is a typical town, and we fit right in. We don't bother with fancy mission statements or marketing campaigns. We just open the doors every morning and get to work. The staff is mostly local people who have been with us for years. We know the parents and we know which kids need a bit of extra help. Sometimes the heat in Solapur gets to be a lot, but we just deal with it using fans and open windows. It’s a practical, no-nonsense kind of school. We are just here to provide a place for the community to send their children to learn.
