Navnisarga Mahila Farmer Producer Company Limited is a bit different because it’s run by the women here in Ringangaon. We set up our main point of contact at Santosh Natthu Patil’s place. We’ve all been involved in farming since we were kids, but usually, the men handled the business part. A few years ago, we decided it was time we took charge of that ourselves. It’s been a big learning curve, figuring out all the rules and how to run a proper company, but we’re getting the hang of it. Ringangaon is a good place to live, and the 425109 area has good soil if you know how to treat it. We spend our mornings in the fields and then get together in the afternoons to sort out the logistics. We don’t have a fancy office or any corporate training. Everything we know, we learned by doing it. We’re just trying to make sure our families are secure and that our hard work actually results in a bit of profit. We focus on growing quality crops and finding the best way to get them to market without losing out to too many middlemen. It’s a lot of work, balancing the home life with the farm and the company, but it feels good to be in control of our own destiny. We’re just a group of hardworking women doing our best for our village.
