Katyayani Farmtech Producer Companylimited is over at H No.274 in Chapadgaon. This whole thing started because a bunch of us realized that farming is getting more complicated with all the new tools and methods coming out. We are not experts sitting in some city office. We are right here in the village. The office is really just a room in the house where we keep our files and meet up after the day's work is done. Chapadgaon is a quiet place and news travels fast by word of mouth. We talk to the neighbors about what seeds are working or if anyone has found a better way to manage the water during the dry months. Farmtech sounds like a big fancy word but for us it just means using what we can to make the fields produce a bit more without spending too much money. We don't have a receptionist or anything. If the door is open you just walk in. Sometimes we are out in the fields so the place might be locked for a few hours. We are just trying to get organized as a group. It is better than being alone when prices change or when we need to buy supplies in bulk. We share what we know and try to help each other out when things get difficult. It’s a local effort through and through, run by people who live here.
