Kanyaratna Farmer Producer Company Limited is based at the Isad R-Ii Unit in Gangakhed, Parbhani. We use the space at Shri Gangadhar Pandurang Satpute’s place. We are a collective of local farmers who felt that joining forces was the best way to handle the challenges we face every day. It is much better than trying to deal with the markets all by yourself. Parbhani is our home, and we know the rhythms of the land here. You won't usually find us in the office during the day because we are out in the sun working. The office itself is quite basic, with just enough room for us to sit and go over the numbers. We don't have air conditioning or fancy desks. We deal with all sorts of crops and try to find the most direct way to get them sold. It is a tough job and things go wrong all the time, whether it is a broken tool or a sudden storm. We don't use corporate jargon because that wouldn't feel right to us. We are just people who work with the earth and hope for a good season. Our focus is on the work that needs to be done right now. We just want to ensure everyone in our group is treated fairly and can make a living. It is honest, local work and we just keep at it every single day. There is no polish here, just calloused hands and a lot of practical daily tasks.
