Janai Dairy Shetkari Producer Company Limited

Our group is right here in Talwade, near Malegaon, in the Nashik district. You can find us at Survey Number 798, which is Sharma Vasti. We are a dairy company, but really we are just a bunch of neighbors with cows. We decided to register as a producer company to handle our milk sales. Every morning starts very early, around four or five, when we have to get the milking done. It’s a lot of physical work and doesn’t stop for holidays. We spend most of our time at the collection point or out in the sheds. We don't have a big office with desks and computers. It’s mostly just us standing around talking about fodder prices or which vet to call. The Nashik sun can be quite sharp, so we try to get the heavy work done before noon. We handle the milk from our own cattle and try to get it to the market without too much trouble. It’s a messy business, and our clothes usually smell like the farm. We aren't trying to be some big corporate brand. We are just local people trying to get a fair price for the milk we produce. The paperwork is done at the Sharma Vasti address, but the real work happens in the backyard. We just take it one day at a time, making sure the animals are healthy and the milk is moving. That is how we operate.
