Our group, Gudtruna Farmers Producer Company Limited, operates out of Madha in Solapur. Specifically, we are located at G. No. 757, which is basically the place where Vijay P. Pawar lives. In this part of Solapur, farming is what everyone does. It is what our fathers did and what we do now. We decided to form this company because doing things alone was getting harder every year. Prices go up and down and the middleman takes too much, so we wanted to see if we could do better together. We are not experts in business or anything. We are just people who know the soil and the crops. Most days you can find us discussing the weather or the price of fertilizer. It is a small operation. We do not have a big staff, just a few of us who take turns handling the different tasks. The address is just a regular house where we keep our records and meet up. It is dusty and busy, but that is how it goes in Madha. We grow what we can and hope for the best. Being part of this producer company gives us a bit of a voice that we did not have before. It is just practical work for people who live off the land. We do not have any fancy goals, just staying afloat and helping our neighbors do the same. It takes a lot of patience to make this work.
