Garj Maratha Farmer Producer Company is based at Baburao Sable’s house in Dahigaon. We are a bunch of farmers from around here who decided to work together. It’s much easier to handle the selling and the buying when you aren't alone. We don't have a corporate building or a reception desk. You just walk up to the house and someone will probably be there to talk. We spend our mornings in the fields and then gather here to discuss the latest market prices or the cost of seeds. Dahigaon is a quiet village, and our work follows the cycle of the sun and the rain. We aren't experts in marketing, and we don't use any fancy language. We just know how to grow things and how much we need to earn to keep our families going. Sometimes we disagree on when to sell the crops, and we have long talks over chai until we reach a decision. The house gets crowded during the harvest season with people and bags of produce. It’s a bit messy and loud, but that’s just how it is. We are just regular people trying to make a living from the earth. We’ve been here all our lives and don’t plan on being anywhere else. Dahigaon is our home, and this company is our way of looking out for each other. We keep the windows open to let the air in, even when it’s noisy outside. It’s just the way we’ve always done things here.
