Chimanchara Farmer Producer Company Limited is located over in Eklaspur, which is in the Pandharpur area of Solapur district. You can find our main spot at Gno 140. We are a bunch of local guys who have been farming this land for as long as we can remember. Pandharpur is a busy place, but out here in Eklaspur, life is mostly about the fields. We set up this company because we wanted to have a collective voice when it comes to selling our crops and buying what we need for the season. It makes a difference when you have twenty or thirty farmers standing together instead of just one. We meet at Gat Number 140 to discuss the prices and the harvest. We don't have any secretaries or big office desks. Usually, we just talk while we are working or when we take a break under a tree. The work is physical and it wears you out, but it is what we know. We deal with the bugs, the rain, and the dry spells as they come. Being part of this group helps us share the stress that comes with farming. We try to keep things simple and honest. If a crop fails, we figure out why together. If we get a good yield, we all benefit. It is just a basic way of looking out for each other in a job that doesn't always give back as much as you put in.
