Our place is located at 921/1/5 on Upalai Road in Barshi. It’s a busy spot in the Solapur district where you’ll find most of us working the fields. We started Bhagwantkrupa because we were tired of trying to handle everything on our own. Being a farmer in Barshi means dealing with a lot of heat and sometimes not enough water. We aren't a big corporation with a lot of money. We are just a group of neighbors who decided to pool our resources. Our office is a modest building where we meet to talk about seeds and what the market is doing. We don't have any polished mission statements or marketing talk. Most of our decisions are made while we’re standing around in our work clothes, covered in dust from the road. We talk about the rain a lot because it’s everything to us. When someone has a good harvest, we all feel a bit better. When things go wrong, we try to help out. It’s a very hands-on way of doing things. We handle our own paperwork, which is a bit of a headache, but it’s part of the job. We just want to make sure that we can keep our farms going and that we get a fair price for the stuff we work so hard to grow. It’s a simple, honest life here on Upalai Road, and we wouldn't have it any other way. We just keep moving.
