Janak Raj is the one you will see most often at our place in Kharia. He is the son of Balvir Singh. We are based in the Sirsa district. Atalveer Farmer Producer Company Limited is something we started to help the local guys get a better grip on their sales. The address is just a house in the village. We don't have a sign that lights up or anything fancy. People know where we are because Kharia is a small place. We spend a lot of time out in the sun, so the office is a nice place to sit and rest for a bit. We have a small radio that we listen to for the news and the weather. The work is mostly about coordinating between the farmers and the buyers. It involves a lot of shouting on the phone because the signal isn't always great. We don't have any polished speeches about our goals. We just want to make sure everyone can pay their bills at the end of the month. It is a tough life being a farmer, so we try to make it a little bit easier by working as a group. Sometimes we have meetings under the big tree outside when the office gets too hot. It is a very informal way of doing things, but it works for us.
