We are located in Saini Mohalla, not far from the old Sabji Mandi. Jitender Kumar, who is the son of Chatter Singh, is the main person here. Khera Khemawati Farmers Producer Company is a local effort. Being near the old vegetable market means we are always close to the heart of the trade. It’s a crowded area and the streets can be narrow, but it’s home for us. We started this company to give the farmers in our area a bit more say in how things are sold. It’s not an easy job. There are a lot of early mornings and late nights. We don't have any fancy mission statements or marketing talk. We just try to make sure everyone gets a fair deal. Sometimes things are a bit disorganized, and the office can be a bit of a mess with all the papers and samples lying around. But we know where everything is. We aren't trying to sound like a big city firm. We're just local people working with what we have. People stop by to talk about the crops or the local news. It’s a community thing as much as it is a business. We just want to keep working hard and stay honest with our neighbors and the farmers we represent. It's a lot of drinking tea and talking through problems until we find a solution. We aren't perfect, but we are here every day doing the work. That's all there is to it.
