Apna Sirsa Gk Fruit Farmer Producer Company Limited is our group and we are based in Madho Singhana. You can find us at Sharwan Kumar’s place which is where we do most of our coordinating. We are mostly focused on fruit, which is a bit different from some of the other groups around here that only do vegetables. Madho Singhana (95) has some really good spots for orchards and we have been working hard to keep our trees healthy. Sharwan Kumar is the one who handles the logistics and makes sure we know when the trucks are coming. It’s a lot of work during the picking season and we often have to hire extra help from the village to get everything gathered before it gets too ripe. We don't have any big corporate goals, we just want to sell our fruit for a fair price. The company helps us talk to buyers as a group which is much better than trying to do it alone. We spend a lot of time talking about the weather and the water levels in Sirsa because that's what matters most for fruit. Sometimes we have small disagreements about which fruit to focus on but we usually work it out over some cold water in the shade. It’s a simple life but we are proud of what we grow here in our corner of Madho Singhana. We have been doing this for a while and plan to keep at it.
