Mahanth Krishi Farmers Producer Company Limited

Our group started over in Santkabir Nagar, right near where Maya Mishra lives in Khajuria. It is a small operation, mostly just folks from the nearby villages coming together. We call ourselves Mahanth Krishi Farmers Producer Company Limited, which sounds a bit official, but it’s really just us. Most days, someone is stopping by the house to talk about the crop situation or asking about the latest prices in the market. We do not have some big corporate building. Most of our work happens right there in the yard or out in the dirt. Being in Santkabir Nagar means we deal with a lot of the same issues every year, like the heat and the water. We decided that doing things together as a company would make it easier to buy what we need. It is a simple way of looking at things. We aren't trying to change the world, just trying to make sure our families have enough. There are a lot of laughs and a fair bit of complaining when things don't go right, but that's just how it is here. Maya keeps the records in order, or tries to, while the rest of us are out checking on the progress of the plants. It's honest work and we don't put on any acts for anybody. We are just farmers who wanted to try something a bit different to help the village.
