In the village of Naugarhtola, which is part of Naugarh, we have Maa Vindhyavasini Poultry & Fish Farm Private Limited. Nirmala Singh is the one who keeps everything running. It’s a busy place with the chickens and the fish ponds. Dealing with animals is a twenty-four-hour job because they don’t care if it’s a holiday or if you’re tired. You have to feed them and check on them all the time. We started this because we wanted to have a real business here in the village instead of everyone having to leave to find work elsewhere. It’s a lot of manual labor, cleaning out the sheds and making sure the water in the ponds is just right. Sometimes the fish don't grow as fast as we want, or a batch of chicks gets sick, and it’s stressful. But then you have a good season and everything feels okay again. We aren't some big industrial farm with robots and conveyor belts. It’s just us doing the work with our hands. People from around here come by to buy what they need. We don’t do any fancy advertising. Word just gets around the village and the surrounding areas. It’s a simple life, focused on the animals and the land. We just want to keep the farm healthy and make sure there’s enough for everyone. It’s honest work and it keeps us busy.
