Yum Food Service

Up here in New Shimla, specifically in Sector-1 at B-5, Lane-3, we run Yum Food Service. Shimla is a beautiful place but it can be hard to get things delivered or set up because of the hills and the narrow lanes. We started this service to help out folks who don't always want to go out or cook for themselves. It’s a small operation. We do most of the cooking in a kitchen that we’ve set up to be as efficient as possible for this space. Since we are in Lane-3, it’s a bit quieter than the main commercial areas, which is nice for us. We don't have a big storefront where you can sit and eat; it’s mostly about getting the food ready and out the door. The weather here can be a bit of a challenge, especially when it rains or gets really cold, but we try to stay on schedule. We are just local people serving other local people. We don't use any fancy marketing terms or have a big office. It’s just a kitchen and some phones. We try to keep the menu simple so we don't get overwhelmed. Sometimes we have to change what we offer based on what’s available at the market that morning. It’s a practical way to run a business. We’ve been at this for a while now in New Shimla and we know most of the streets by heart. It’s hard work, but we like it here.
