Imperial Dining Hall

The Imperial Dining Hall is located inside the Welcom Heritage Wood Ville Palace on Raj Bhawan Road in Shimla. It is an old building with a lot of history in its walls. We have high ceilings and large windows that look out over the hills. Working here is different from working in a modern restaurant. Everything has a bit of an older feel to it. We spend a lot of our time polishing the wooden furniture and making sure the brass fittings are shiny. Shimla winters are very cold, so we have to keep the fireplace going to make the hall comfortable for people to sit in. We serve the guests who stay at the palace and also people who are just visiting for the day. It is a quiet place compared to the noise of the Mall Road. We do not have a big menu with fancy names. We just serve simple meals that people enjoy. The monkeys outside can be a bit of a nuisance, so we have to make sure the windows are latched properly. Our staff has been here for a long time, and we all know how to take care of the place. It is not about being fast or modern. It is about keeping the tradition of the hall alive for another year. We just do our work quietly and serve the food.
