Matta Shere Punjab

Shimla gets very cold in the winters, and our spot near the Old Bus Stand is always full of people trying to find a warm meal. Being at Shop Number 19, we see a lot of travelers coming off the buses. It is a small space, so it gets cramped quite easily. We mostly serve Punjabi style food because that is what we know. There is no fancy plating or anything like that. You get your food on a plate and you eat. The kitchen is small and always busy with the stove going. We spend our mornings chopping onions and getting the gravy ready. Sometimes the fog is so thick you can barely see the shop from the road. We get a lot of porters and drivers coming in for a quick bite. It is not the kind of place where you sit for hours. You eat and you move on so someone else can sit. The walls could use a fresh coat of paint, but we never seem to find the time. We are just busy from morning until late at night. Matta Shere Punjab is just a name on a board to some, but for us, it is where we spend all our time. We do not have a website or anything. Just the shop and the food we make every day. It is a lot of work but it is what we do.
