Vaigai Matriculation Higher Secondary School

Our school is right on the Salem Main Road in Valapady. If you are driving through this part of Salem, you have definitely seen the Vaigai sign near the road. It's a busy spot because of the main road, but that makes it easy for the buses to get in and out. We have a lot of students from Valapady and the nearby villages. The school has both the matriculation and higher secondary sections, so the building is full from morning till late afternoon. It is a noisy place, especially when the bell rings for lunch and everyone heads outside. We don't have any polished marble floors or anything like that. It is just a solid building with plenty of desks and chairs. We spend our time checking attendance and making sure the teachers have their supplies. The staff room is usually a bit cluttered with papers and books, which is how you know we are actually working. We know most of the families around here since many of the parents went to school in this area themselves years ago. It feels very local. We don't do much in the way of promotion or ads. The school just exists as a part of the Valapady landscape. When it rains, the ground gets a bit muddy, and when it is hot, the fans stay on all day. We just keep at it, day after day.
