Swami Vivekananda Vidyalaya Matriculation School

Swami Vivekananda Vidyalaya Matriculation School is based in Kadyampatti, right in the Salem district. It’s a place where the day starts pretty early for us. You can see the yellow buses coming in through the gates before the sun gets too high. The building is solid and has seen a lot of kids pass through its doors over the years. We have the matriculation section and the older students all in the same general area. It gets a bit loud during the lunch break when everyone is out in the open spaces eating their tiffin. Kadyampatti is a nice enough area, and being here feels right for the local families. We don’t have anything too flashy, just the standard classrooms with benches and chairs that have been there for quite a while. The staff room is usually a mess of papers and half-drunk tea cups because there’s always something to mark or a plan to write down. On rainy days, the smell of damp earth comes right into the windows. We spend a lot of time just keeping the place running and making sure the students are actually in their seats. It’s a lot of walking back and forth between the office and the classes. Every year feels similar, but the faces change as the older ones leave and new little ones start in the lower grades. It’s just how things go here.
