Jay Matric Higher Secondary School sits right in Gandhi Nagar near the Ammapettai Bazaar area in Salem. It is a busy spot, especially in the mornings when the local shops are opening up and everyone is rushing around. We have been here for quite some time now, watching the kids grow up and move on. The school building is pretty straightforward, tucked away from the main noise of the market but still close enough to hear the daily bustle. Most of the families around here know us well. We just focus on the day-to-day work, making sure classes start on time and the children are doing their bits. The bells ring, the playground gets loud during break, and then it is back to silence. Salem gets quite hot in the summers, so we try to keep things as comfortable as possible for everyone inside. It isn't anything fancy, just a local place where learning happens. You see the same faces every day, from the rickshaw drivers outside to the parents waiting at the gate. It is just how life goes in this part of town. We keep the registers updated and the classrooms tidy, nothing more than that. Sometimes the traffic in the bazaar makes things a bit slow, but we manage. It is a steady routine that everyone has gotten used to over the years. We are just a regular school doing regular things for the neighborhood kids.
