Down at 1/11, Sriram Nagar in Alagapuram, we’ve got Dream Kids Pre School tucked away in a mostly residential spot. It’s nice because it isn't right on a main highway, so it feels a bit more tucked back. The building itself is an older style, typical for this part of Alagapuram. We have a small yard where the kids can play, though the grass doesn't grow very well because of all the running around. Inside, the walls are painted in bright colors that have faded a bit over the years. We’ve got stacks of plastic bins filled with toys and those chunky crayons that are hard to break. The morning starts with everyone piling their bags in the cubbies. There’s always a bit of a scramble to find the right pair of sandals when it’s time to go outside. We spend the middle of the day doing simple things like drawing circles or learning names of animals. It gets pretty noisy when everyone is talking at once, but you get used to it after a week. The neighborhood is quiet enough that you can hear the birds in the trees nearby during the nap time hour. We don’t have any high-tech gadgets, just wooden blocks and some old rhythm instruments. It’s a simple setup for the local families who live nearby and need a place for their kids during the day while they work.
