Shudhbhoomi Farmer Producer Company Limited

We are out in the Kathvada area, which falls under the Prantij and Talod talukas. The office is at Lalabhai Keshabhai Patel’s place, right in the heart of the village. It’s a quiet place compared to the city, mostly just the sounds of the fields and people working. We started this producer company because we wanted to have something that belonged to the farmers. We aren't business experts with degrees, we just know how the soil works. Most of us have lived in this area for generations. When you come to Kathvada, you'll see it’s a lot of open land and people who aren't afraid of getting their hands dirty. We don't spend our money on fancy furniture or big signs. We’d rather put that toward the seeds or the equipment we need. It’s just a group of us trying to organize the produce a bit better so we get a fair shake. Sometimes we meet on the porch or in the small room we use for an office. It’s very informal and there’s always someone stopping by to chat. We don’t have a big staff at all, just a few local people who know how to keep the books. It gets incredibly hot here in the summer and the roads are a mess after the rains, but this is where we belong. We take things as they come and try to stay honest with each other in everything we do.
