Kaimursampda Farmers Producer Company Limited is based out of the Sarweshwari Mini Rice Mill in Bhabua. Specifically, we are at House Number 225 in Tola Panch, Kurasan. Pritikumari runs things around here and it is usually quite loud because of the machinery. Being at a rice mill means there is always dust in the air and the sound of grain being processed. It is a real working place, not a quiet office with air conditioning. We farmers from the Kurasan block come together here to figure out our harvests and how to get the rice to the right people. Bhabua is a place where everyone knows everyone’s business, so we try to keep things transparent among our members. Sometimes the power goes out and everything stops, which is frustrating, but we just sit and talk until it comes back on. We aren't trying to be the biggest company in Bihar; we just want to make sure the local rice gets a fair price. The mill is the heart of what we do and it is where all the decisions happen over cups of chai. It is a bit cramped inside with all the bags of grain stacked up, but it works for us. We spend our days checking the quality of the husks and making sure the farmers in our group are happy with the progress. It is just plain, hard work every day.
