Vignan Vidyalayam High School

We’ve been here on Peace Road for a while now. It's a busy part of Lalpur, but inside the gates, things are mostly about the kids and their lessons. People in Ranchi know where we are. We just try to get through the syllabus and make sure the students understand what they're reading. It’s not always easy, especially when it rains and the road gets messy. We have desks that have seen a lot of years, but they work fine. The staff mostly lives nearby, so we walk or take a rickshaw to get here. We don't have any fancy gyms or anything, just classrooms and a small place for them to run around a bit during lunch. Some days are loud, others are very quiet during exams. We just keep doing what we do every year. Parents come by to check on progress, and we talk to them plainly about how their child is doing. No big speeches here. Just a school in the middle of town trying to help kids learn their math and science so they can do something with their lives later on. The fans hum in the summer and the rooms get a bit cold in winter, but we manage. It’s a lot of paperwork and managing personalities, but it’s the job we chose. We aren't looking to change the world, just to teach the local kids well enough. Maybe some of them will remember us.
