Usha Martin School

Our school is out near Arra Gate in Ranchi, which is a bit of a distance from the main city center if you are driving during the busy hours. The pin code is 834003 and most people around here know exactly where we are because of the big gates. It is a bit dusty on the road outside sometimes because of the construction going on nearby, but inside the campus, it stays relatively calm. We have been working out of this location for a while now and the building has seen its fair share of monsoon seasons. The hallways can get a little cramped when everyone is trying to get to the canteen at once, but that is just how it goes in a school. Our staff room is usually piled high with books and papers because there is always something to grade. We don't have fancy office furniture or anything like that; it is just a practical space for teachers and the admin team to get things done. In the afternoons, the sun hits the front of the building quite hard, so we keep the blinds down in the office. It is a straightforward place where everyone knows their job and we try to keep the kids focused on what they need to learn. Ranchi weather can be unpredictable, so we are always checking the roof or the windows for leaks when the clouds get dark. It’s just us here, doing our daily bit for the community and our neighborhood.
