St Robert High School is tucked away at Ews 116 in the Harmu Housing Colony area of Ranchi. We are right by the Harmu By Pass Road, so you can imagine the sound of the traffic we hear throughout the day. It’s a pretty established part of the neighborhood. The school itself is a straightforward brick building that has seen a lot of wear and tear over the years. We have kids from all over the colony and the nearby blocks coming here. It’s a high school, so things are usually a bit loud until the bell rings for classes to start. We don’t have any of those modern glass walls or fancy air-conditioned halls you see in the new parts of town. It’s just regular classrooms with old-fashioned benches. The playground is just a patch of ground where the kids play football or just run around when they have the chance. Our teachers are local people, some of whom have been teaching here for decades. They know the families well. In the rainy season, the road outside can get a bit messy, but everyone still makes it in. We spend a lot of time on the basics, making sure the students are actually reading their books and doing their homework. There’s no big corporate office behind us, just us here on the ground trying to keep the school running day by day. It’s a practical place for the kids in this part of Ranchi to get through their school years.
