Lawrence High School

Lawrence High School is found in Ratu Thakurgaon, specifically in the Hurhuri area of Ranchi. This part of Ranchi - 835222 is a bit different from the main city center; it’s more open and has a bit of a rural feel to it still. The school building stands out against the landscape, and we’ve got students coming in from several of the surrounding villages and smaller settlements. It’s a long walk for some, while others come in on shared autos or cycles. The mornings are usually crisp, and you can see the mist over the fields before the sun comes up properly. We have a set of buildings that house the different grades, and while they aren't the newest structures, they are sturdy and keep the rain out during the heavy monsoon months. Life at Lawrence High School is pretty consistent. We have the morning assembly, the scheduled classes, and then the rush to get home before it gets dark. The staff here understands the local lifestyle and the challenges that families in Ratu Thakurgaon face. It’s a place where things are done simply. We don't have a lot of high-tech gadgets, but we have enough desks and chairs and teachers who show up every day to do their jobs. It’s an honest sort of place where children from Hurhuri and beyond can spend their school years without too much distraction from the busy city life of Ranchi.
