Hidustan Dorr-Oliver Ltd

Our office for Hidustan Dorr-Oliver Ltd is tucked away in the Samrajay Apartment building. It’s unit number 206, which is on the second floor. We are located in the New Ag Colony in Kadru, which is a busy part of Ranchi. Jharkhand gets quite hot, so we are glad for the shade the building provides. The apartment wasn’t originally meant for an office, so the layout is a bit like a home. We have desks squeezed into the rooms where beds used to be. It’s a bit cramped when everyone is in at the same time, but we make it work. Most of the day is spent on the phone or looking at documents on our screens. There’s a lot of tea drinking happening throughout the morning. The neighbors in the building are mostly families, so we try not to make too much noise in the hallways. You have to park your bike or car downstairs and then come up the stairs. The elevator works most of the time, but we usually just take the steps to save time. It’s a plain place with white walls and not much in the way of art. We keep the files stacked in the corners because we ran out of shelf space months ago. It feels like a real workspace, not a showroom. People in the colony know us as the guys who work in 206. We’ve been here for a good while now.
