Amazing Kids School

Out here in Naya Toli, things move a bit slower than in the big cities. Our school is a local place where the neighborhood kids come to spend their day. It’s a plain building, nothing too special to look at from the outside, but inside it’s always busy. We have benches for the students and a blackboard that gets a lot of use. The floors are often a bit dusty because the kids are always coming in and out from the yard. We focus on the basics, teaching them to read and write and count. It’s a small operation, really just a few of us making sure the children are learning what they need to. You can hear the voices of the kids reciting their lessons from down the road sometimes. We don't have a big budget for extras, so we make do with what we have available. Most of the parents here are working hard, so they drop their kids off early. We know every child by name and we know their families too. It feels more like a big family than a formal institution. Sometimes we have to fix a broken chair or paint a wall when it gets too scuffed up. It is a lot of work to keep everything running, but seeing the kids learn something new makes it okay. We’ve been part of this community at Naya Toli for quite some time now and we just keep going.
