Happy Days Playgroup & Primary School

Happy Days is located right on Kadru Road in Ranchi. It’s a pretty easy place to find if you’re in the Kadru neighborhood. We started this playgroup and primary school because we saw a need for a place that wasn't too intimidating for the little ones. Some schools are so big and scary for a four-year-old. Here, it’s a bit more relaxed. We have toys scattered around and colorful walls, though the paint is peeling a bit in the corners where the kids pick at it. The mornings are usually full of crying toddlers who don't want to leave their moms, but by noon, they’re usually having a good time. We teach them the basics, like counting and their colors. It’s not a high-pressure environment. We have a small outdoor area where they can run around, though we have to watch them like hawks so they don't trip over each other. The staff is mostly made up of ladies from around the area who have children of their own. We drink a lot of tea in the staff room between the different classes. It’s a simple operation. We don’t have a fleet of buses or anything, most parents just walk their kids over or use a rickshaw. It’s just a friendly, local school for the neighborhood kids to start their education. Sometimes it gets a bit loud when everyone is singing at once, but that's just how it goes with children. We try to keep things organized despite the constant energy.
