The Aditya Birla Public School

The Aditya Birla Public School is out in Rawan. It's quiet mostly except for when the school buses roll in. People know us because we've been here a while. The building stays fairly cool even when the Chhattisgarh heat gets really bad in May. We have a lot of rooms and the halls get pretty loud between classes. It's just a regular place where we try to keep things organized. The staff usually gets here early to make sure the gates are open. We spend a lot of time dealing with the usual stuff like paperwork and fixing broken desks. Sometimes the power goes out but we just carry on. It’s not fancy, but it works for the families living around the plant and the nearby villages. We see the same faces every day and that’s nice. There is a playground that gets a lot of use, though the grass is hard to keep green when it doesn't rain. Most of the teachers live nearby so they know the families well. We don't have much to say about ourselves other than we show up every morning and do the work. It’s just a school out here in Rawan. We keep the fans running and the chalkboards clean. Life here follows the same rhythm every year, from the rainy season to the winter mornings when it’s actually a bit chilly. We don't do anything special, just the daily routine of teaching and learning in this part of Raipur. It’s a long day sometimes.
