Our school sits on the Baloda Bazar Road in Raipur. It’s a big campus, probably bigger than most people expect when they first drive up. There is a lot of traffic on the main road, so the gates stay shut most of the day to keep the noise out. We have a lot of buses that come and go, bringing kids from all over the city and the outskirts. The hallways are long and they echo quite a bit during class time when everything is quiet. We have a large field where the grass grows too fast during the monsoon, making it hard for the groundskeeper to keep up. The classrooms are standard, with whiteboards and rows of desks that get shifted around every time there is a group project. It gets very hot in Raipur, so we rely on the ceiling fans a lot, and they hum away all day long. We have a canteen that smells like samosas around noon, which makes everyone hungry before the bell rings. The staff mostly sticks to the staff room for lunch, drinking tea and catching up on paperwork. We don't try to be anything we aren't. It’s just a place for learning and growing up. Some of the windows in the older wing are a bit stiff to open, but the breeze is worth the effort. It is a lot of work running a place this size, but we just get on with it daily.
