Manipal Vicon School

You will find Manipal Vicon School out in Bhurkoni, which is part of Tekari Village near Akoli. It’s a bit of a trek from the main Raipur city, but that’s just how it is out here. The air is a bit fresher than in the city center, though. We have been working here for some time now, looking after the kids from the surrounding villages. The school building sits on a decent piece of land, and we try to use the space well. Most of our students come from families who have lived in this part of Chhattisgarh for generations. We don't have a lot of bells and whistles. It's mostly just chalkboards, wooden benches, and teachers who have been with us for years. Morning assembly is usually when the whole place feels the most alive. After that, it’s just the sound of people talking in classrooms and the occasional bus driving past. We deal with the usual stuff like leaky taps or a roof that needs fixing after a heavy storm. It’s a practical kind of place. We don’t spend money on glossy photos for the internet. We’d rather spend it on some new books or fixing the fans. Everyone knows everyone else’s name here. It makes things feel a bit more personal, even when we are busy dealing with exams or the yearly sports day. It’s just a normal school in a quiet village.
