If you find yourself in Tatibandh on Street 5, you’ll see our gate at A-7 in Shri Shanti Nath Nagar. Sri Veerendra Patil Public School is tucked into this residential pocket of Raipur. It’s usually quiet until the school bell rings, and then the whole street wakes up. We have kids from all over the neighborhood coming in every morning. The building is a standard layout, with classrooms lining the halls. I’ve spent many hours sitting in the office here, just looking over the registers and making sure we have enough chalk and markers. Raipur summers are tough, so we’re always checking the coolers. We don’t have those massive air-conditioned halls you see in corporate brochures. It’s just regular rooms with windows that we open to get a breeze. The playground isn't huge, but it works for the lunch break. Most of our teachers have been with us for years. We know the parents and they know us. Sometimes we have to deal with a leaky roof or a broken bench, but that’s just part of managing a school in this area. We focus on the books and the daily lessons. It’s a straightforward place. No one is trying to be anything we aren't. We just provide a spot for the kids in Tatibandh to come and do their studies every day without any extra complications. It is just a normal, hardworking school life.
