Living and working at the Sonadih plant is a bit different than being in a big city. We are out here in Raipur district, and life moves at its own pace. Quarter D 47 is where things happen for us. It is right there near the plant, so you can always hear the hum of the machinery in the distance. The dust is something you just get used to when you work with cement every day. Most of us live right here in the colony, so our neighbors are also our coworkers. We walk to work, which is nice because there is no traffic to deal with. In the summer, it gets incredibly hot, so we try to do the heavy work early in the morning before the sun really hits. The post office in Raseda handles our mail, and sometimes things take a little longer to reach us out here. We have a small yard, and sometimes we sit outside when it cools down in the evening. It’s a quiet life for the most part. We focus on keeping the plant running and making sure the production stays steady. Everyone knows everyone else's kids and what's going on in the neighborhood. It’s more like a small village than a big company site, but we like it that way. It feels more personal. We just handle the day-to-day tasks and look after the place. It's a simple existence but we keep things moving as best as we can.
